The Donation Depot is an all-volunteer project providing aid to foster care families and the surrounding community with access to items donated by area retailers. We believe that children in foster care should live as normal a life as possible experiencing love, respect and a wider side of life while in their home and school environments. By providing these children with gently used or new up-to-date clothing and supplies, we can help raise their self-esteem so they can feel good about themselves regardless of their living situation.
The goal of the Donation Depot is to provide a unique shopping experience. Families will be able to shop in a warehouse boutique with amenities including bedding, kitchen and bath items, clothing, toys, food, books and the overall shopping experience. All items will be free of charge to foster families and those who are in need. Participants will get to choose up to six items. Finally, our donation depot is completely volunteered-based. We do not have any paid employees. Any monetary donations go directly back into the organization to assist in growing it. We are a tax-exempt non-profit organization.
How we can help? Foster families may be unprepared for a newly placed child or a family in crisis simply can’t afford items when life happens. This frequently places a hardship on the family to provide for the immediate needs of the household. We deal directly with the parents by supplying them with material items such as items for the household items, clothing, shoes, toys, bedding, home decor, small kitchen appliances, school supplies, holiday decorations, etc. This enables the parent to provide the basic needs of the household quickly. We also provide parents access to additional support resources as available.
What can you do? You don’t have to be a Foster Parent to help a foster child or family in need. The Donation Depot relies on the generosity of the community to help these children. Without Community support – The Donation Depot couldn’t exist.
